Course Description:


Kindergarten students are expected to recognize upper and lowercase letters (out of order). They are also expected to learn all the sounds in the alphabet by the end of the school year. They will also learn to print letters. They will work on developing fine motor skills as they learn to write the alphabet in both uppercase (capital) and lowercase letters. They will also learn how to write their first and last name. The students will also attempt to write an informative, opinion, and narrative sentence by the end of the school year. They will also learn how to read sight words, cvc words, identify rhyming words, beginning, middle and ending sounds. My goal is to have my students reading by the end of the school year.


Kindergarten students will learn how to count, recognize, and write numbers up to 20. Using concrete props, they will learn the concepts of more and less, ordinal numbers, basic addition and subtraction, creating patterns, sorting each group into its category.



The students will be exposed to science through ELA curriculum (Wonders).



The students will learn all about history through our Studies Weekly.





The students will take home work on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays. The students will be given a homework folder it is their responsibility to bring back the folder everyday with their homework completed. The homework folders will also include a calendar and a behavior chart. homework folders will also be another form of communication so teachers and parents can send notes, graded papers, flyers, etc. All folders will be checked daily.


My classroom rules and expectations


  • We will arrive rested and ready to learn every day.
  • We will follow directions the first time they are given.
  • We will treat others with kindness and compassion.
  • We will keep our hands, feet, and bodies to ourselves.
  • We will use good manners such as “please”, “thank you”, “yes ma’am”, and “no ma’am.
  • We will use inside voices and walking feet when we are in the building.
  • We will share.
  • We will take turns.
  • We will apologize.
  • We will HAVE FUN.

Discipline plan

I will have a clip chart with 3 different colors green, yellow, red. At the beginning of the day we will go over school and classroom rules and every student will be on green. If a student breaks a rule or misbehaves their clip will be moved to yellow and that will be their warning. The second time they have to move their clip, their clip will move to red and they will automatically get a sad red face in their folder. I will send a note home to their parents explaining why they received a red face. Parents will have to sign and return the note. If the student continues to misbehave or not follow rules their parents will be called.

My Philosophy

I will do my best to give each child the courage to try new things, the curiosity to seek new answers and the ability to be the best they can be.
